If you know me, you know that I start my holiday shopping fairly early. Ally, on the other hand, is a last minute shopper. This year, we agreed that we want to support small, independent, and/or local shops and brands as much as we can. In honor of Small Business Saturday, we’re featuring some of our favorite local brands that we’ll be gifting our loved ones this season.
A Few of Our Favorites
In no particular order
Crafts and Love
If you’ve been following us for a while, this one should come as no surprise to you. I wholeheartedly believe in giving gifts that I myself would like to receive. My absolute favorite piece from Crafts and Love is the Sam, which interestingly enough shares a name with my boyfriend.
Recommended for your sister, girl squad, and boyfriend’s baby sister.
Little Barn Apothecary
Stone Mountain, GA
With a focus on organic and natural ingredients, Little Barn Apothecary has gained a lot of traction in the press lately for their minimal beauty products. They even have a collaboration with Free People right now.
Recommended for your mother, mother-in-law, best friend, and natural beauty lovers.
East Creek Candle Co.
I’m huge fan of P.F. Candle Co. and was excited to find a local alternative Lindbergh Candle Co. When they announced that they would not be restocking for the remainder of the year, I sought another local soy candle maker and found East Creek Candle Co. on Etsy. With gift sets starting at two 8 oz candles for $20, these candles are definitely a more affordable option yet still delightfully scented.
Recommended for new homeowners, in-laws, and family friends.
I’ve never thought of myself as much of a chocolate lover until I discovered artisanal chocolate. Now on climbing trips, you’ll never find me without a bar of Compartés or Xocolatl chocolate. Ally first discovered Xocolatl at Root City Market, and I later stumbled upon them at Krog Street Market. After trying a sample, I knew without a doubt that they would become a new staple for me. Best of all, Xocolatl provides a discount when you buy five bars or a trio of three different flavors.
Recommended for your not-as-close friends, guy friends, coworkers, and chocolate lovers.
MEE+MIN Paper Goods
Of course, you can’t forget about the final touches. The past few years, my go-to for wrapping presents has been plain Kraft paper (which basically comes free whenever I order a package); however, when I found MEE+MIN Paper Goods online earlier this year, I could not resist the adorable prints on their wrapping paper. They also sell fun and cute printed artwork and stationery too.
Recommended for your final touch on any small to medium-sized items you gift.
A few other favorites that we would also like to mention but didn’t quite make our shots include:
Revive Bath + Body — Check out their soaps and gift sets.
Yes Ma’am Paper + Goods — The cutest greeting cards that I’ve already ordered.
Neva Opet — The loveliest handmade leather bags for those on the higher end of your budget.
